Jumana Manna is a Palestinian visual artist and filmmaker. She creates art objects and makes films. Her new documentary "Foragers" (2022) is based on the stories of family, relatives and friends that they experienced and heard in the village. It tells about the attitude of the Palestinians towards the land, which is as important as life itself. The main theme is the extraction of aucuba and zaatar plants in the wild, despite the ban. Jumana Manna sees this as an act of survival and anti-colonial resistance.
The Palestinians, risking their lives, continue their traditions of collecting these plants and passing them on to the next generations. This love for one's Homeland is similar to a mother's – absolute love.
