Tiamat of stone

The Palestinian architectural buro AAU Anastas has created the Tiamat Stone Matters installation, inspired by the crests of sand dunes, ribbed structures and vaulted systems. It is dedicated to the history of stone architecture and expands the possibilities of stone construction in the future. The installation was presented at Desigh Doha 2024.
AAU Anastas was shortlisted by Diriyah and will be represented in the international architectural competition for the Al-Mussalla Prize, which is part of the biennial of Islamic Art and is dedicated to the design of musalla, a space for prayer and reflection accessible to people of all faiths.
The winner of the competition will be announced later this year, and the opening of the museum, located in the Western Hajj Terminal of King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, will take place on January 25, 2025.
Among the selected architects are Sahel AlHiyari from Jordan, EAST Architecture Studio representing Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates, Dabbagh Architects from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and Asif Khan from the United Kingdom.
