How do two professions combine into one? A striking example of this is the Hind Hilal brand, whose founder, Palestinian Hinda Hilal, was able to transfer her knowledge into creating clothes and "speak with her voice" in the fashion world. Her architectural education is reflected in the play of structures, shapes and silhouettes. Her journey began in 2017, when her mother gave her a sewing machine, and in 2019 the first collection was released, which received recognition on the pages of British VOGUE. Hinda is inspired by strong women who have resilience. She emphasizes femininity and natural beauty without hiding it behind a lot of decor. All collections are hand-sewn in the Bethlehem studio with care and attention to detail.
“To be creative while living under occupation is an everyday challenge. Having so little to create something authentic and loud enough to reach further has become my way of resisting and existing as Palestinian and as a designer, despite all limitations,” says Hilal for Vogue Arabia.
